Greetings,

Subject: Sensei Ideas

> How about these for new senseis?

DO NOT POST CARD IDEAS TO THE LIST. Sorry to shout in all caps, but
this is important. There is a way to submit card ideas (directly to
Alderac, with legal text), but posting them publically helps ensure that
the design team *does not use it.*

   Could you be more specific?

Do Occupied Terrain first. Then Oni no Sanru. Then Cremation. Then
Antidote. Then Counting the Lost. There are hundreds of cards that
nobody uses; Makoto is not special.

>>> Makoto says "bow a personality" which in this game means I can bow
>>> my opponent's personalities as well.
>>

*shrug* On the other hand, "any" is typically used when you can bow
either your own cards, or an opponent. Context counts, too.

> More specifically, how do you resolve this with Shadowlands Sickness?

Simple. I type, "Shadowlands Sickness: You may bow any Shadowlands
personality." Then I type, "Makoto: You may only bow your own
personalities." Then I paste it into the Accumuated Rulings. Then I
update the Accumulated Rulings. Then I wait to see if Dave or Jeff
overrules me. Then I have a sandwich.

   Ahhhhhhh. Power.

Some folks may think I'm being too recalcitrant about this, but the
reasons are simple. First, I can't overrule Jeff Alexander. Second, I
want to err on the side of caution. Third, changing the ruling is going
to suddenly turn Makoto into a card that will replace Superior Tactics
or Deadly Ground in decks. It'd still be crummy.

The horse named Makoto is dead. Stop flogging it.

   Yes.

   No.

   No.

No. Their bonus is from an attached card.

   No.

> What happens if In Search of the Future is played?

  Bonus stays.

   No.

> b) What if In Search of the Future is played?

  Bonus stays.

Subject: Rallying against the counterattack

> Rallying Cry doesn't straighten units, it keeps them from bowing.
> Doesn't this mean that those units haven't bowed yet?

*groan* I knew someone would raise this.

No. Rallying Cry can sort of goes back in time and say, "Those bowed
cards? Pretend you never turned them sideways." To make a long story
short, the action *can* be retroactive. Yes, I know it can be confusing.
I can't do anything about it. Sorry.

His commander was Togashi Mitsu, perhaps? :)

Units bow after battle resolution. This is in the rulebook.

Turn off the MIME setting in your e-mail software, post in plain text
from here on in, and all will be forgiven. :)

   Yes.
