Still, the machine stood. Across the plain, the Crab raised their tremendous battering ram, launching a tremendous assault against the smooth metal sides of the enemy. Behind them, battle-maidens charged in total silence, their steeds racing on iron-shod hooves. And the machine cracked from the blows of the siege engine, shuddering in its iron coffin. The Lion drew their swords of honor, marching as one against the evil beast, and though they were few, their voices alone caused the creature to howl and steam, its measured bleeps coming with the frantic pace of arriving death. But it still stood, unmoving, against their charge. With a wild Cry, a thousand Wasp loosed their arrows, and Centipede hovered above Mantis footmen with sun-filled hands. The rage of Takao's scorching fire joined their own, and the monks released the elements upon the hateful oni. At last. "I have it, My lady," Shosuro Hametsu smiled to the storyteller. "Allow me." He held a strange poison in his hands, and walked to the side of the scarred and battered machine, raising his hand to drop a single green drop of poison into the Oni no Listserv's waiting port. With a burst of light and a single shake, smoke errupted from the machine, and the beast lay dead under the assault of Rokugani's finest, working together beneath the darkened sun. "A new type of poison." Hametsu bowed. "We call it 'virus'." Shizue smiled. At last... back to the story. -------- All systems functional.
