Greetings!
I want to thank everyone who came to GenCon, took part in the War in the
Heavens, the LARP, and the other great events the occurred. It was one of the
best weekends in L5R history, and one that I, personally, wil never forget.
Thanks to all of you, for all your dedication and inspiration.
I want to take a second to answer a few questions that have been popping up
repeatedly - and to settle a few after-con disputes. Remember, just because
someone *thinks* that something will happen, doesn't mean that's the case.
Hypothesis are half the fun of the game - but don't believe anything until it
has been officially printed ;).

Absolutely correct. The moon was the Shadow's 'creator'. Onnotangu chose to
not give the Shadow a name, so that he could use the shadow as his weapon
against the Children of the Kami, and against the Sun, herself.
One reason the story may have originally seemed a bit disjointed was
because Honor Bound was not wide-spread before the tournament. The HB set
was designed to 'set up' the conflict between Hitomi, the Moon, and the
connection between the Moon and the Shadow. Because of the production delays
and difficulties, we were afraid the subtleties might get lost. To help with
this, we printed out each day's lead-in story, and specifically wrote them up
with that in mind, in order to help alleviate the problem caused by the late
Honor Bound. We very much wanted to be sure everyone could understand what
was going on.
And yes, those lead-ins will be published on the AEG and FRPG page, ASAP.
<<1. How did the Clans know about the shadow on Otosan Uchi and how did they
get there in time.>>
Shinjo and the Unicorn were already marching on Otosan Uchi, and Shinjo
used the ancient oaths of her siblings to force each of the major clans to
send her support. Some sent an army, others could only afford to send (or
only wanted to send) a token force. Mantis didn't send any, (their hero was
already on his way to Toturi's Throne Room, unknown tot he armies), and of
course, the Shadow was already there.
<< If it was a matter of saving Toturi from the Shadow and for a few
champions fighting against the image of Lord Moon then why the storming of
the walls?>>
Because the Shadow had already taken the city, and in order for the armies
to make it to Toturi's side (the throne room), they had to battle their way
through the Ninja and their servants, who had captured Otosan Uchi.
<<3. Where did the armies that stormed the walls come from given that the
Phoenix and Mantis are still at war, the Dragon and Scorpion are meant to be
going to Morikage and the rest are in the shadowlands?>>
Some of your information (above) is incorrect, but the body of your
question, 'Where'd they come from', is answered above. The majority of the
armies were Unicorn, Scorpion and Dragon. The rest were small legions, sent
to fulfill the Kami's oaths to support their sister if she called, or
individual heroes who came to seek Toturi on their own.
<<4. Is hitomi going to return from the spiritual battle?>>
Because the Ninja didn't win, yes.
<<5. What happens to the Moon now? Is there a Moon? Is the moon no longer a
God. What will Amaterasu think of us killing her husband?>>
All wonderful questions. The Moon is dead - no moon rises in the black sky
of Rokugan. As for the rest, I can't answer them all at this time (you'll
have to wait for Ambition's Debt), but Norikazu's Scrolls say this: "And the
stars shall scream, and the moon shall fall, and the world shall brace for a
new beginning. There shall be twenty-seven days of darkness..."
<<Ree kept showing cards and ripping them up...does that mean:
a) that personality fell in the battle
b) that personality DIED in the battle>>
With the exception of brave Hasame, it simply means that the personality
failed, not died. Although the Crab warrior, Unari, was badly wounded, and
poor Matsu Turi was thrown out of the Emperor's castle by the Moon's might,
they did survive.
