My Dear Honorable Doshi,
Ohayo-gozaimashita!
>Anyone know if AEG is still going to attempt to do a Legend of the Burning
Sands boxed set >for the RPG??
Okay, here's the deal. This is something that everyone's been afraid to
say or hear, for that matter, but we owe you the truth, because you are our
loyal & supportive fans...
Before I begin, I want it clearly understood that topic IS NOT for
discussion, and no amount of griping & protest is going to change the
situation, so let this subject end with this ONE message. If I see any
response to this message, I will harshly respond to every post that the
discussion MUST end.
Now, with that said, here goes...
Five Rings Publishing Group/Wizards Of The Coast own the rights to the
intellectual property known as Legend Of The Five Rings lock, stock & barrel.
Because Legend Of The Burning Sands is an extension of the L5R world, they
own it as well.
Alderac Entertainment Group designs the L5R CCG for FRPG/WOTC. AEG also
liscences the rights to produce the L5R RPG & Clan War from FRPG/WOTC, which
means that AEG pays them a royalty on the revenue earned by the L5R RPG &
Clan War.
AEG would like to produce an LBS RPG as a supplement to L5R or a stanbd
alone game, but cannot do so without the permission of the liscence holder,
FRPG/WOTC, which at this point has yet to grant AEG permission to do so, and
has no plans to do so for the remainder of this year, and next year. The
soonest an LBS RPG can happen, if it is to happen at all, is not until 2001.
That's the deal, and we're dealin' with it!
Sincerely,
Marcelo A. Figueroa
Sales Manager
AEG
