My Dear Honorable Doshi,

Ohayo-gozaimashita!

>So this would be the one that doesn't list Way of the Shadow at all, was
>still advertising Walking the Way as being a hardback with rules for
>Monks after the release date (Now corrected, despite the fact that the
>Update page doesn't list any updates to the site since January, or to
>the product list since last September), claims adventure S2 (whose title
>I forget) will be out December '98 - I'm not surprised they don't plug
>it, they're probably to embarrassed....

Embarrased... perhaps! There are a few reasons we have not plugged the
online store. First & foremost, it is because of the mistakes that Tim Ellis
so scornfully points out that we are in the process of changing web site
administrators, and as soon as that process is complete, the online store will
be updated.
Second, AEG is not in the habit of undercutting or stealing legitimate
business from those retail stores that faithfully & generously carry our
products. The on line store is for the most part an avenue by which those of
you that have the most trouble finding our products in your local retail store
or simply have trouble finding a retail stores can have access to our
products. It is by no means a replacement for the services provided by a game
retail store.
Finally, since I am the keeper of the master catalog of AEG products, I have
worked very hard to keep the previous web site administrator up to date with
out product information, and I do apologize if it never got changed on the
actual site, but that information gets to you with the same caveat it gets to
the reatilers & distributors... SRP’s, Stock #’s, Titles, Descriptions &
Availability Dates are all subject to change without warning.
Accidents happen, such as the case with Way Of Shadow being a soft cover book
instead of hard cover (which, by the way, was a last minute printer error).
The same with Walking The Way not being the Monk book, but let us also bear in
mind that this had been advertised in Shadis & InQuest for about three months
as nothing more than a spell book. When the original manuscript for Walking
The Way came in (the kiho & spell book version) it was decided by the L5R RPG
Design Team that Walking The Way would proceed ahead only as a spell book, and
that the information on the monks would be it's own separate book... but this
was a decision & information that we were not obligated to present to you
during the development stages of the product. The fact that the product
description was not changed on the online store or fan web sites when we did
announce the change was yet another accidental oversight.
Furthermore, you may recall that module S-2 Twilight Honor did release in
December '98, and is still currently available. If it didn't get into your
game store until January of this year, then that would be a problem between
your local retail store & their distributor, but we will once again apologize
anyway.
Neither of these changes was by any means intentional, and yet some of the
distinguished members of this list seem to thrive on begrudging us these
mistakes. They were made, we have apologized for them, and we are working
even harder to see that these mistakes do not repeat themselves.
As always, we thank you for your patience & cooperation, and if there is
anything else I can do for you, please feel free to contact me anytime.

Sincerely,

Marcelo A. Figueroa
