Hey All,

Someone asked for more proof that there was actually a set coming out...

Ritual of Binding - Spell - Bow one of your Sahir and bury a Jinn from your
hand. Put an enchantment token on an Item in play. The token's Strength and
Ka bonus equal the Jinn's Fate value.

Yes, attention to LBS has been low, because it has been so long since the
last release. It's important to remind everyone that it was due to feedback
from this list that the release schedule is the way it is. You all didn't
want a half and half set, so we waited until we could do a basic set with
all new cards in the boosters (with some repeats in the starters).

As much as the Awakening is an expansion in a existing game, it also marks
the first real starting point for LBS with a set large enough to be
interesting all on it's own. Someone said that it is our job to get the
product into stores, I totally agree, but this industry has always done best
when the players get behind a product. I'm going to talk to Mindy and see if
there isn't something special we can do for folks who run LBS demoes at SH
stores.

I would love to do a Morikage style event, but you really can't pull off one
of those until you reach some sort of critical mass of players that LBS
hasn't achieved yet.

I'm also going to take the advise of one of the posters and see If I can't
get some preview cards/images up on the web site early next week.

While I always tell people that I would rather have them buy product from
stores, I'm also going to make the Awakening available through the WotC
on-line store on the for sale date, so if your store won't carry it and you
want it, you can get some.

When we did our earlier survey, we found less than a 50% cross over between
L5R and LBS players. While MtG, Pokemon, and Young Jedi might not have taken
away players from LBS, they certainly took away retailer dollars and more
importantly retailer attention. Hopefully we can kick the demo program up
again to get a fresh start with the awakening. We are actually spending more
money advertising the Awakening then we spent on advertising both of the
last two sets put together (I would say that we have fallen down on the PR
side though).

I'll let you all know when I get something up on the web site and if I can
get some bonus goodies for demo folk,
Luke
