Hey all,
I know that there has been lots of frustration on this list lately
because of lack of WotC/FRPG representation. While I haven't been posting, I
have been reading and keeping up on things here (after recovering from the
GenCon haze). Part of the reason that I've been slow in acting/reacting to
things here is that I don't have much new to say. Things are working here
that if they go the way I think they'll go, you all will be happy with the
future of LBS, but for reasons that I absolutely can't go into here, I can't
talk about it until it's a done deal.
The "deal" in question is reliant on factors way outside of my control
and larger corporate issues and until a "big" announcement can be made, it
is best if I just keep my mouth shut.
One thing I have learned this year (in a painful way) from the L5R list
is not to promise anything until I have the thing finished to promise.
Example - I was told that I could have on-line rankings by February for L5R
(and LBS and DT). I made the mistake of announcing this in November or
December. Then our DBAs left the company, and I got beat over the head by
players for months that the rankings weren't live. This month they finally
went up. I would have been better served to make the announcement the day
before the rankings went up.
So, I'm not going to hint at what is going on with LBS because, while if
I get my way, you'll all be happy, I don't know with 100% certainty that
I'll get my way.

While many of you on the list may not of seen it, support for LBS is
actually growing on our side. At GenCon we had space issues, so there was
very little LBS presence, but we've got good demo-deck give-a-way power
going at UK GenCon and from what I understand, a slowly growing number of
grass roots LBS demos going as well.

Posts like this tend to start long conversations where people ask me lots
of questions and normally that's a good thing - this time however, I'm going
to fade back into the mist until I have something more to say because I
simply can't talk about the things that you most want to talk about.

Sorry for the huge non-answer, but it just has to be that way right now,
Luke Peterschmidt
