".... and assign at least one unit to attack, if able." I
think the most natural solution is to extend that "if able" to
the attack as well, which gives Rise From the Ashes clear
priority.

Sorry. Being Undead does NOT automatically make you
Nonhuman as well.

No. The list of factions that can play a particular Sensei
is not considered to be traits of that Sensei card.

Neither the Rings themselves nor their benefits are Actions.
OLOA cannot be played in response to one.

See above. It's no longer an action. Kuro cannot copy it.
>And if I use Kuro to duplicate something like the ring of earth that gives a

Again, he cannot copy the Ring of Earth's effect any more.
But, in general, Kuro's effect is identical to the action's,
including duration and what phase it can be used in.

Is it really a wording change? Or is it just a case of
clarifying the grammar?

Neither. He's saying the Foo Rule DOES NOT APPLY to Sensei
cards where Clan traits are concerned.
> The Shadowlands Horde
>Stronghold is not effected by Iris. The reason: it is not considered to be
>in play not that it isnt considered to not have the shadowlands trait.
Incorrect. It's not affected by Iris Festival because
A) Iris Festival destroys cards. Strongholds are not cards.
B) Clan affiliations, such as "The Shadowlands Horde", are one
complete phrase. You cannot use individual words from inside
them.
C) Strongholds cannot be destroyed.

Ruled? That's what the card SAYS. There is no conspiracy.
>It was also Shoju that brought in the bizarre concept of the sensei being an
>honour loss.
That was an initial justification for why the Shadowlands
Horde could play it and not immediately lose. The reason has
since been changed. The decrease in Starting Honor is no longer
treated as an honor loss.
>As a complete aside (and nothing to do with senseis at all). Rings are no
>longer considered action cards. Is playing a ring still an action.
No. Neither is using the beneficial effect of one already
in play.

Yes, yes. No.

Before.
>or Can I use the Avoid Fate after they pay the events cost?
Not only can you, that's the ONLY time you can. If the 2g is not
paid, the Event is discarded without resolving and there's nothing to
react to.

If you use his Reaction, yes. (It's a Reaction on the most
recent printing.)

Bingo.

>I have a simple question regarding "Evil Portents":

If you have a unit there, you satisfy the Rule of Presence.
You do.
If your action comes from, targets, or affects something in the
battle or the battle itself, you satisfy the Rule of Relevance. If EP
changes the stats of any card at the battle, you satisfy this too, so
playing it is legal.
