I disagree with your conclusion. Fu Leng would have won, but the design team
was fully prepared to follow the "Thousand Years of Darkness" story arc that
such a victory would have brought on.

Though there was a great sense of relief among the team when the last
Shadowlands player was eliminated. That "Thousand Years of Darkness" woulda
been a rough go.

Nope. Having been there, you're wrong here. WOTC was very hands-off for
quite a while.
